LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. June 16, 2016 Police Blotter

The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:

June 15

A caller said a skiff used in the Swan Lake derby was missing, but called back to say he had found it on the lake.

A coat was found on Lance Drive.

Drug abuse was reported.

At 10:24 a.m. a caller said his landlord assaulted him. An ambulance was sent but the caller refused treatment and declined to press charges. The landlord said he wanted the caller to remove his motor home from the premises. The caller asked for a breathalyzer test on himself since he’s on probation, and he blew .000. He said he’d move his motor home within a week.

Police were told of a suspicious looking Jeep Cherokee near the USCG Cutter Maple as it was refueling.

An aqua and white girls bike was found on Yaw Drive.

At 4:42 p.m. a caller said a man jumped out of the third-floor window of a hotel. He was taken to the hospital, then medevacked, with non-life threatening injuries, police said. Officers found nothing amiss in the man’s room.

At 7:15 p.m. a man said a resident was yelling at a woman in the 900 block of HPR. The resident was given a disorderly conduct warning.

A backpack found at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi was turned in.

At 11:45 p.m. police called back on a 911 call. A man said he saw a big brown bear running across HPR near Cascade Creek Road, heading toward the water. The bear was gone when officers checked.

June 16

An ambulance was called for a man with chest pains downtown at 1:15 a.m.

Police documented damages to a vehicle in a ditch at 4:15 a.m. today.

At 4:54 a.m. a caller reported a rabbit loose near the 1000 block of HPR.

 

In Court

Chatham M. Mulligan, 36, was sentenced to 10 days, suspended, and fined $1,000 for reckless driving. His license was revoked for 30 days and he will be on probation one year. He is to be evaluated for substance abuse counseling.

Jonathan B. Scott, 46, was sentenced to 90 days, with 80 suspended, on each of two counts of harassment in the second degree. He was charged originally with two counts of assault in the fourth degree, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charges. The sentences are to be served consecutively. He was sentenced to 90 days, suspended, for violating release conditions. He is to be on probation for four years, and is to receive a behavioral health evaluation. A charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 10:42 a.m., 12:36 p.m., 4:35 p.m., 5:24 p.m. and 9:02 p.m. Wednesday, and 1:15 a.m. today.

 

At 11:02 a.m. Wednesday a fire truck was sent to 2108 HPR on a false alarm.
