The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
July 28
At 12:48 p.m. harbor staff asked for help dealing with a man who was told not to dock his boat under the bridge, and now was refusing to leave. The man left to find a dock elsewhere.
A Samsung camera and case were turned in to police.
Police helped on an ambulance call from a private plane to the hospital.
A man turned in a debit card found in a Lincoln Street store.
At 4:40 p.m. a driver said she struck another car while trying to parallel park in the 300 block of Lincoln Street. She asked police to document the accident because she was unable to find the other vehicle owner.
At 5:42 p.m. a driver said he was forced off the road in the 3500 block of HPR when a red Ford pickup swerved into his lane. He gave police the license plate number, but the vehicle was gone when officers checked.
Keys turned in to the Pioneers Home were claimed by the owner before officers collected them.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 2:17 p.m. and 2:35 p.m. Thursday.
At 6:39 a.m. today a fire truck was sent to 1211 SMC after a sprinkler head broke and set off the alarm. Firefighters helped shut off the system and mop up the floor, the chief said.

Michael Stringer, environmental specialist for Sitka Tribe of Alaska and a founder of the community garden, takes the concept of Earth Week literally. This weekend he hopes others will share his appreciation for “earth” and things growing in it by joining him in preparing the community garden just behind Blatchley Middle School for another growing season.
