LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Aug. 25
An Alaska Airlines credit card was turned in and the owner was contacted.
Police received a stalking order which was faxed to Juneau to be served.
The harbor department at 11:12 a.m. asked for help dealing with a few people at the Mariners Wall. One man blew a PBT of .287, and was released into the care of another.
A resident turned in some checks found on the ground of the 300 block of Katlian Street. A message was left for the owner.
A woman reported missing two golf clubs, and asked police to notify her if they’re turned in.
At 1:50 p.m. a caller said a man was with a woman he had been ordered to stay away from, under conditions of release, in Eliason Harbor. They were not in the area when police arrived.
At 2:21 p.m. a driver said she was passed at a high rate of speed by a Chevy Suburban covered in bumper stickers, near Sandy Beach. Police gave the Chevy driver a warning for speeding.
A woman said she lost a black purse in the 300 block of Lincoln Street.
A fisherman said leads off were stolen his boat in ANB Harbor.
At 4 p.m. a man said his daughter had been in a car accident at Sitka High School. An officer took a report of the accident and documented the damage.
A man in Juneau said his ex-wife in Sitka is constantly emailing him, despite requests that she stop. He was advised of his options.
At 5:47 p.m. a resident told police that her neighbor’s dog on Donna Drive is regularly running at large and had jumped on her truck, leaving scratches on it. She was advised of her options, and told it was a civil matter.
A woman passed out on a folding table at a laundromat at 6:10 p.m. was reported to have been annoying people earlier with a loud boom box, and behavior. The woman blew a .182 PBT and was able to care for herself. She was advised to stay out of bars and liquor stores for the night.
Aug. 26
At 2:42 a.m. a resident reported a couple fighting loudly in a house on Edgecumbe Drive, and possibly throwing items. Police talked with a large group and gave out disorderly conduct warnings. One was arrested.
Sitka Police
Garrett B. Nielsen, 38, was charged on Thursday with criminal trespass.
Nicholi A. Littlefield, 31, was charged today with disorderly conduct.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 11:20 a.m. and 6:13 p.m. Thursday and 7:06 a.m. today.
Coast Guard
A helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Sitka medevacked a 73-year-old man with possible stroke symptoms from Gustavus to Juneau for medical care on Thursday, the Coast Guard said.
