The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Jan. 17
A feral cat was left at the animal shelter.
At 9 a.m. the Salvation Army turned in a needle found on the building’s back porch. Officers disposed of it.
Employees at a liquor store reported the theft of alcohol.
At 1:37 p.m. a caller reported seeing a woman falling into traffic at the intersection of HPR and Katlian Street. She was gone when officers arrived.
A child’s bike helmet found in the roadway on O’Connell Bridge was turned in.
At 3:36 p.m. a caller said she was unloading groceries in her home when she saw a tall man in black standing inside then going downstairs to the basement. She told police she would lock herself in her car and wait. Officers found no one in the house.
A caller said his wife’s vehicle had been hit while parked at Lakeside Plaza between 5 and 7 a.m. Damage was done to the vehicle’s front end.
At 5 p.m. a 911 caller said her home had just been burglarized by a man who walked in, took a TiVo box, then left for his home. An officer contacted all those involved and returned the box to the owner.
At 7:54 p.m. Sitka Police Department received a summons from Juneau Judicial Services, to be served locally.
At 10:25 p.m. a woman came to the station to report she had lost her keys on the Gavan Hill Trail and her vehicle would be parked at the trail head overnight.
At 5:27 p.m. a 911 caller reported seeing smoke in the area of Oja Street. Officers saw several house chimneys in the area but no excessive smoke.
At 6:22 p.m. a caller reported two men were passed out in a truck that was running, in the 200 block of Lake Street. An officer saw a man using a bank ATM then leaving in a truck. No evidence of a crime was found.

Bradley Robert Ross, 20, was cited for violating conditions of release by being late for a court-ordered PBT.
In Court
Jason Birbal, 23, on a charge of driving under the influence was sentenced to 20 days with 17 suspended and fined $3,000 with $1,500 suspended. He is to get a substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations. His license was revoked for 90 days, and he is to use an ignition interlock device for six months after driving privileges are restored. He will be on probation for a year.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 3:25 p.m., 4:11 p.m., 4:13 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 5:11 p.m. and 7:03 p.m. Tuesday.
Coast Guard
A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew medevacked a 64-year-old man with intestinal problems from Wrangell to Sitka Tuesday afternoon.,
