March 27, 2017 Police Blotter

The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:

March 24

A wallet was reported stolen from a backpack outside the library.

A caller said graffiti had been sprayed on Market Center’s mural.

A caller asked for a check on a man who had received lab results. Police found he was on his way to a hospital.

At 9:30 p.m. a bartender said a man who had been ejected from a bar was now in a “squabble” outside. Police made one arrest.

A reported domestic fight was just an argument, offices were told.

At 10:36 p.m. fireworks were reported at Halibut Point Recreation Area. Police found none.

March 25

A taxi driver said a woman refused to pay. She paid before officers arrived.

 A volunteer agreed to escort a man seen stumbling in the roadway at 2 a.m.

At 10 a.m. an Andrew Hope Street  resident said a bottle rocket shot from a vehicle had struck his window.

A caller said dirt was dumped on the tide line in the 2000 block of SMC.

At 1:40 p.m. police documented a traffic accident with no injuries.

A dog tethered in the 100 block of Lincoln Street was reported biting at passersby. The owner said the dog was stressed out due to being tied up.

An iPhone was found in the Eliason Harbor bathrooms.

A caller asked police to intervene in a family argument over who was going to watch a movie and who was going to play music. It ended in one brother assaulting the other. The caller said his brother was now just sitting and staring at him, although earlier he had swung a broomstick at their sister. The brother was leaving as officers arrived.

At 11 p.m. gunshot was reported in the 2000 block of Cascade Creek. Officers found nothing amiss.

At 11:24 p.m. a man found banging on the door of a business in the 900 block of HPR was taken into protective custody after he blew a PBT of .391.

March 26

An ambulance was dispatched for a woman with an anxiety attack.

At 1 a.m. a woman downtown asked an officer to call a taxi for her.

A resident lost her GoPro camera.

An ambulance was called for a resident having a diabetic emergency.

A backpack found in a Cascade Street driveway was picked up.

A caller said neighbors were putting garbage out too early, resulting in animals getting into it. The neighbors cleaned up the garbage.

An ATV left in the bushes at Pioneer Park was picked up by police.

A Person Street resident said a man was going through items on his porch.

At 8:06 p.m. a car accident with no injuries was reported on Peterson.

An ambulance was called for a boy who was choking.

At 8:50 p.m. a caller said an intoxicated man wouldn’t be quiet, and she was trying to get the kids to go to sleep. The man was given a warning.

Police arrested a man found almost under a bus on Katlian Street.

March 27

An ambulance was called for a man having chest pains.

An ambulance was called for a woman who had fallen.

 

Sitka Police

 

Jerrid L. Sutton, 32, was charged with disorderly conduct on Friday.

Luke A. McGraw, 33, was charged Sunday with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree.

Eddy K. Smith, 52, was charged with criminal trespass in the second degree, and remanded and cited for violating conditions of release.

 

Emergency Calls

 

 

Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 11:39 a.m., 12:31 p.m. and 3:21 p.m. Friday: 1:30 a.m., 9:22 a.m. and 8:05 p.m. (two calls) Saturday; and 12:23 a.m., 12:49 a.m., 10 a.m. and 10:32 a.m. Sunday.
