Tribal Council
Meets Nov. 15
The Sitka Tribe of Alaska Tribal Council will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Sheet’ka Kwáan Naa Kahídi.
The second review of the BIHA ordinance, the second review of the Marine Mammal Commission ordinance and a “tribal citizens to be heard” item, will be featured on the agenda.

Leather-Making
Workshop Slated
All are invited to learn and experience the process of turning a deer hide into leather, which will then be used by youths at Hanson House this winter.
The first of the four event series is 7-9 p.m. Nov. 15 at UAS-Sitka Campus in Room 106.
The remaining three events will be Dec. 6, 13 and 20. No experience is necessary. All ages are welcome. The event is sponsored by Youth Advocates of Sitka and Sitka 4-H.

Crucial Conversations
Discussion Tuesday
Crucial Conversations “Journey of Discovery” is planned 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Centennial Hall.
Louise Brady and Jean Swanson will tell what they learned about trauma and which techniques work to help connect and support a survivor.
Everyone perceives and processes trauma differently, organizers said. Those who want to talk about how to support a loved one and learn tools for overcoming trauma can attend.
The event is not appropriate for children; however, childcare, homework help, refreshments and a safe environment away from the conversation space will be provided.
The conversation is sponsored by the Sitka Domestic Violence Task Force, Sitka Tribe of Alaska Social Services, and SAFV. For more information, call Martina at 747-3370.

The deadline to sign up for Thanksgiving assistance has been extended to Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Salvation Army. Hours are 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Set for Fundraiser
Fried bread and tacos are being sold 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the ANB Founders Hall.
Stay-in, take-out and delivery orders will be taken. Call 738-4004 between 9 a.m. and noon to have them delivered.
The taco meal price is $10; extra fried bread, $5; and five fried breads, $20.
The event is to raise money for the Sitka Kaagwaantaan Dancers.
