Sitka Police logged the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
Jan. 11
A man said a ring had slipped off his finger while doing rounds Friday and today a woman came into the office wearing it. He said she told him the ring was hers and he was a liar. An officer talked to both. He advised the woman became very agitated and aggressive but he was able to get the ring back from her.
At 1:12 p.m. a caller said a driver ran a stop sign on Biorka and nearly hit a truck. Officers contacted the driver, who was negative for alcohol and said he hadn’t realized he’d run a stop sign He said he’d drive more carefully.
At 11:14 p.m. officers made contact with two men in the 1300 block of SMC who appeared to be under the influence. A third party picked up the men. Officers will forward charges of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fifth degree to the ADA.
Jan. 12
Written warnings were issued to four vehicles left in the no overnight parking area at the airport.
At 12:24 a.m. a caller on Kaagwaantaan Street said the airlines had lost the bag containing her car and house keys. Officers contacted her landlord.

Daniel Richard Mossburg, 21, was taken to jail by the probation officer on a petition to revoke probation sentence.
In Court
A charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree filed against Michael W. Emerich, 48, was dismissed.
Emergency Calls
Sika Fire Department responded to ambulance calls at 2:45 p.m., 8:34 p.m. and 10:29 p.m. Thursday.

Responding to the requests of athletes, coaches and parents, the Sitka School Board voted unanimously Monday against a proposal that would have changed Sitka High School’s classification from Class 4A, which includes Juneau and Ketchikan, to the 3A, which has schools with enrollment of 100 to 400 students.

Memories of Sitka’s first radio station have been revived by a St. Louis, Mo., man who was one of the founders. Fred A. Wiethuchter recently wrote a letter to “Mayor Sitka, Alaska” asking about the town since he was here during World War II. He was an Army private at Fort Ray when he was attached to Armed Services Radio Station KRAY and WVCX ....
