LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. Police Blotter
The following calls were received by police between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. today:
Feb. 15
At 7:43 a.m. a caller said her brother was missing. The man’s mother-in-law said the brother had returned and was fine.
A resident said a woman who stole a vehicle was in Sitka with the car, but the woman told police the vehicle was in Ketchikan.
An ambulance was called for a man who tripped in a hole and hurt his back, but he refused a ride to the hospital.
An insulin pen found in the roadway on Lakeview Drive was disposed of by officers.
At 4:26 p.m. a resident asked to sign a criminal trespass warning against a woman to keep her away from an apartment building.
At 5:26 p.m. a resident reported vehicles parked on Airport Way and a smell of marijuana around the area. No one was there when police arrived.
At 5:57 p.m. a 911 caller said a woman had passed out in the library and was not responding. She admitted to consuming alcohol and was taken to the hospital.
At 8:04 p.m. a car was removed from a ditch in the 2200 block of SMC. Officers said the vehicle was still drive-able.
Feb. 16
At 2:51 a.m. a 911 caller asked for an ambulance because he was sick and unable to get to the hospital.
An officer noted graffiti on a sign in the 5300 block of HPR.
At 5:17 a.m. a resident reported giving an intoxicated woman a ride home but she was unable to get anyone to answer the door. The resident asked for a welfare check to make sure she was not stuck outside. She was asleep in her vehicle when officers arrived, and they helped her find her keys so she could get safely inside.
Sitka Police
Alesa R. Williams, 25, was arrested on a charge of violating conditions of release by consuming alcohol and not maintaining contact with the parole office.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 10:24 a.m. and 5:57 p.m. Thursday, and 2:51 a.m. today.
