TRUCK FIRE – Firefighters knock down a fire in a Ford Explorer truck in Arrowhead Trailer Park in the 1200 block of Sawmill Creek Road Saturday evening. One person received fire-related injuries and was taken to the hospital, Sitka Fire Department Chief Craig Warren said, and the truck was considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Warren said. The fire hall received the call about the fire at 5:33 p.m., and one fire engine with eight firefighters and an ambulance were dispatched, he said. (Sentinel Photo by James Poulson)

The following calls came in by 8 a.m. today.
May 21
At 8 a.m. a driver said a bus driver had clipped his vehicle at Blatchley. The bus driver told police he wasn’t aware of the incident.
At 12:11 p.m. a 911 caller said a driver had swerved into her lane on Katlian, forcing her to swerve. Officers gave the driver a warning.
A woman in protective custody at the hospital was taken to the police department.
At 2:38 p.m. a 6-year-old girl was reported to have gotten lost in the 500 block of HPR after school let out early. Officers talked to her father and contacted the Office of Children’s Services.
At 4:58 p.m. a 911 caller reported a domestic fight in the 800 block of HPR. Officers talked to a couple and found no elements of a crime.
May 22
At 2:07 a.m. a 911 caller said people were screaming in the street and throwing bottles into the roadway in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. Officers talked to the people and determined three were involved.
At 4:51 a.m. a 911 caller said three people with a firearm were walking into a hospital. Police found no one matching the description provided, and determined the incident did not occur. Hospital staff said there was some confusion due to an ongoing medical situation with the resident.

Amanda Skultka, 31, was arrested on a charge of violating conditions of release on Monday after providing a breath test of .025.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department got ambulance calls at 6:31 and 7:51 p.m. Monday and 1:49 and 4:20 a.m. today.

Businesses using the Centennial Hall parking lot testified Tuesday against a proposal to charge them rent in addition to the $200 annual permit fee. City Administrator Hugh Bevan made the proposal in response to the Assembly’s direction to Centennial Hall manager Don Kluting to try to close the $340,000 gap between building revenues and operational costs.
