Women’s Pistol
Clinic Announced
The Sitka Sportsman’s Association will host a women’s pistol clinic in July.
The clinic will be held on the first four Sundays of the month at 7 p.m. and is designed to get shooters more familiar with their pistols and prepare them to compete in the fall Women’s Pistol League.
Sessions will be a mixture of classroom instruction and live fire practice. This clinic will be limited to 20 shooters with half of the spots set aside for women who have not previously participated in the fall leagues.
Due to anticipated high demand, shooters must reserve their spot via email to ramp@gci.net, starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 17. No early emails will be accepted. A waiting list will be started as needed for use in a future clinic.
Cost of the clinic will be $20 for all four sessions. All shooters must be a member of the Sitka Sportsman’s Association ($30/year) and have a current shooter’s insurance card ($40/year). Registration and range familiarity will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27.
The range is located at 5211 Halibut Point Road, right before the ferry terminal. Anyone with questions should call Steve at 738-7267.

Marked at Chapel
Calvary Chapel Sitka will have a special Father’s Day message 3 p.m. Sunday.
It is from Mark 9: ‘‘A loving father begs Jesus to cast an evil spirit out of his son and cries out for more faith.’’ A Father’s Day picnic will follow the service. It is open to the public.
Cancer Support
Group to Meet
At New Location
The Cancer Support Group that formerly met at the Pioneers Home Manager’s House will now be meeting at the Pioneers Home Chapel. The next meeting is 1 p.m. Sunday, June 17.
To get to the chapel, from the front door walk up the ramp to the second and ½ floor, and follow the signs.
‘‘We get together to share our experiences of the past, present, and talk about the future,’’ organizers said.
Those in cancer treatment, cancer survivors, and their families, are invited to spend time with others who understand what they are going through.
The support group is sponsored by Sitka Cancer Survivors Society. Call Mary Beth with questions or if a ride is needed at 623-0842.
