The following calls came in as of 8 a.m. today.
Aug. 10
At 9:50 a.m. a caller said two men were passed out under a gazebo at Pioneer Park. The two were cited for having open containers.
A black and purple Cannondale Scarlet mountain bike was stolen from in front of the Salvation Army store.
At 9:12 p.m. a caller said a woman who appeared intoxicated was at the lightering facility on Harbor Way. She was gone when officers arrived.
At 9:33 p.m. a DeGroff Street resident said someone appeared to have come onto his property. The smell of alcohol was detected and the dog had been alerted.
At 10:49 p.m. a caller said a man had repeatedly knocked on her door on Flume Circle and asked for someone who didn’t live there.
August 11
A caller said a pit bull running at large at Verstovia and Sirstad had growled at him several times.
At 12:50 a.m. a caller said a man and woman were arguing loudly near Andrews Street. Officers found the two were intoxicated and issued warnings.
At 1:35 a.m. a caller on Charles Street said neighbors were playing loud music and awakened her. An officers found a man in a truck sound asleep, and turned off the music.
At 2:41 a.m. two women and a man were reported being loud at Eagle Beach. Officers gave them a warning,
A caller said a man had suicidal ideations. The man told officers he wanted to go to the hospital only for a diet consultation.
At 4:20 p.m. two bears were reported on Flume Circle. An officer alerted people in the area but saw no bears.
At 9:29 p.m. two teens were reported skateboarding down a street.
August 12
At 3:20 a.m. a caller said several individuals were making noise around the Block House. Officers talked to four males, one highly intoxicated, and advised them of the complaint.
At 4:34 a.m. a caller said a man had entered her home several times without permission, and urinated on her porch. He tried to get in a third time but couldn’t get past the deadbolt. Officers found him passed out alongside the home. He blew a BrAC of .0194 and was placed on 12-hour hold.
A Lincoln Street store signed a trespass order against a resident.
Four teens were reported trying to hit ducks with projectiles at Swan Lake. Police contacted them and a mother took the projectile away.
Troopers said a vehicle was going in and out of the trooper academy.
Police arrested a man after receiving a report of his breaking dishes and behaving strangely.
A resident asked for advice about dealing with a bunch of people contacting him on his phone. He was advised he could contact the courts but the most practical option would be to change his number. He then asked for help for a woman. She happened to be at the police station with paperwork, and appeared in good spirits.
A caller said someone broke into his locked room and took his wallet, on the SJ campus. He said he needed it to catch a plane in the morning.
At 3:23 p.m. a driver struck a bicyclist at Wolff and SMC. The patient was alert and ambulatory but complained about pain in the hip and elbow.
At 7:14 p.m. a caller said a man went through a black duffle bag at a grocery store then went to Pioneer Park. Police found the bag but not the man.
At 8 p.m. a man was reported sleeping in various parts of the Sitka airport including the women’s restroom. He told police he’d been too intoxicated to take his flight and planned to leave the next morning.
A woman reported lying on the courthouse lawn was gone when police checked.
August 13
A man who blew a .197 on the intoximeter was taken to the hospital.
TSA asked for help with a man who lacked ID needed to get on a plane, and another man trying to carry marijuana on board. The man without ID was allowed to board, and the other was not.
Police Blotter
Andrew C. Moore, 58, was charged with violating conditions of release Friday afternoon after testing positive for methamphetamine.
Darrell W. Scott, 33, was charged with violating conditions of release and probation violation Friday afternoon.
Alan J. Lee, 31 was charged with criminal trespass in the second degree and violating conditions of release Friday evening.
Guillermo Diaz Jr., 24, was charged with driving under the influence early Saturday morning.
August Andrew Bickar, 19, was charged with driving under the influence Saturday night.
Jason D. Svilar, 24, was charged with driving under the influence, misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree, and two counts of violating conditions of release early Sunday morning.
Robert Brown, 21, was charged Sunday with criminal mischief in the fourth degree (domestic violence).
Amy M. McGraw, 41, was charged Sunday with driving under the influence.
Madeline Parsons, 18, was arrested today on two warrants for violating release conditions and failing to report, and two counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth for allegedly possessing heroin and Lorazepam.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department gotambulance calls at 1:45, 3:50 and 10:09 p.m. Friday; 3:42 p.m. Saturday; and 12:38 a.m., 4:10 a.m., 3:24 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. Sunday.
At 9:50 p.m. Friday firefighters were asked to help put out a cannister full of cigarette butts that had caught fire, at 210 Lake Street. Hotel workers used a coffee cannister to put out the blaze, and a firefighter carried it over to the fire hall to run a garden hose to fully extinguish the fire.
