Police Blotter
    The following calls were received by police by 8 a.m. today:
October 5
    A Glock 10mm clip was turned in.
    A man sleeping in the dugout at Moller threatened the grounds crew.
    Smoke was seen under the Indian
River Bridge. Officers found embers but no damage or property of value.
     A downtown store signed a trespass order against a suspected thief.
    A man found passed out in woods on Jeff Davis Street blew a PBT of .368 and was taken to a hospital.
    At 6 p.m. a caller reported a bear at Starrigavan Campground.
    Three boys were seen  running into  traffic in the 900 block of HPR.
    At 7:49 p.m. a 911 caller reported two juveniles were arguing with their parents. Officers talked to all three.
    At 8 p.m. a caller said parents who were supposed to pick up a child hadn’t shown up. When the caller gave the child a ride home the house was empty. Police contacted the father.
    An officer said a 1996 Plymouth on Gavan apparently was being lived in.
    At 11:50 p.m. three men were found at Crescent Harbor with an open container. One blew a PBT of .291. The other two said they’d take care of him.
October 6
    At 1:27 a.m. a big bear was reported in the road in 2700 block of HPR.
    At 1:36 a.m. a caller said a baby had been screaming all of the previous night and this night, and it sounded like the mother yells in frustration at the baby. An officer checked but heard no  crying or yelling.
    A caller said a 1997 Subaru was parked in an alleyway on Smith Street.
The owner said he’d sold it to “James” and would tell him to call the PD.
    A DeGroff Street caller said he had video of the theft of his $900 bike.
    A caller said kids at Sam Sing cabin were rapid firing toward where he and his son were cutting firewood. He wanted the incident documented.
    A caller said an upstairs tenant was being noisy and uncooperative. Officers found no evidence of a crime.
    At 7 p.m. a caller said a vehicle had been left in a car rental parking lot. The car owner, who was on a plane, was notified and shortly after a friend said keys were being sent to him on the next flight and he’d move the car.
    At 8:44 p.m. a small, unaggressive  bear was reported on Neva Street.
    At 9:21 p.m. two callers reported fireworks in the Monastery Street area.
    At 9:36 p.m. a caller reported fireworks in Katlian Street area.
    At 9:45 p.m. a fireworks were heard  in the Monastery Street area. Officers found the man setting them off and he agreed to stop. He received a warning.
    At 9:52 p.m. a caller said a car pulled into his driveway and the four occupants were looking around his property, saying he had tools and parts there. The caller said he didn’t know the occupants and asked for an officer.
October 7
    At 12:40 a.m. a caller said a neighbor might have an animal trapped in the back of a vehicle. An officer found the vehicle speakers were crackling.
    At 1:50 a.m. a caller on DeArmond Street said six occupants of a vehicle were taking photos of her windows.
    At 2 a.m. an officer asked for EMS for a man who said he was under the influence of meth and was having a panic attack. He was taken to a hospital.
    A caller said her son was becoming argumentative over his laundry. She was told it was a civil issue.
    At 6:41 a.m. a caller said a relative was sending alarming text messages. Officers found the relative on the bridge, and he agreed to go home.
    A writ of assistance was given to police to serve. The man didn’t show up, so the house was locked up.
    An iPhone was turned in.
    Police talked to a man and woman  sleeping in their vehicles in the 1300 block of SMC.
    A caller said she’d received a Facebook screenshot from a woman threatening to harm the caller and family. Police advised the caller of her options.
    A man said a backpack was stolen while he had been dancing the previous night at a bar. The backpack contained his ID a Nintendo DS, a Carhartt jacket and nonnarcotic prescription pills.
    A woman said a man, whose wife had assaulted her the night before, was knocking on her door. Police talked to her about making a false report.
    At 4:06 p.m. a Lake Street resident reported his Zodiac was stolen.            A man said his ex had called him at least 60 times in the last five hours. The woman told officers she was trying to retrieve some of her belongings, but he wouldn’t talk to her. Both were advised of their options.
    Police documented an accident involving a parked patrol car.
    At 11:38 p.m. a 911 caller said two juveniles were punching holes in the wall of a private home. They were arrested for criminal mischief.
October 8
    At 4:56 a.m. a caller said a man was motionless in the Thomsen Harbor restrooms, and there was a strong odor of marijuana. The man woke up and told police he wasn’t out or using pot.
    At 6:10 a.m. a driver in the Pioneers Home area nearly hit a nurse, a caller said. The driver told police he was looking for his girlfriend, and didn’t remember almost hitting anyone.    
 
    Sitka Police

    Bradley R. Ross, 22, was charged with violating conditions of release after testing positive for meth and opiates Friday.
    Byron Kashevarof, 34, was charged with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, and reckless endangerment Saturday morning.
    Angela L. Haag-Castro, 38, was charged with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, on Saturday.
    Michael E. Eggers, 37, was charged with disorderly conduct early Sunday.
    Two boys, 15 and 13, were each charged with one count of criminal mischief and referred to the juvenile probation office, on Sunday.
 
    Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 9:10 a.m. and 5:51 p.m. Friday; 12:01 a.m., 8:25 p.m. and 10:01 p.m. Saturday; and 5:56 a.m., 8:17 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 2:04 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 8:37 p.m. Sunday.
    At 2:04 p.m. Sunday a fire truck and two ambulances responded to a boat fire in the 1200 block of SMC. (Story and photo on page 1.)
