LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. The following calls were logged before 8 a.m. today:
February 13
A caller said a highly intoxicated man had left a child unattended for an extended length of time in a hotel room. The man’s PBT was .000, and he told police he’d left the room only briefly.
Officers were advised a vehicle had been parked on a sidewalk at Eagle Beach for a few weeks.
At 4:37 p.m. a caller reported a single-vehicle accident at Herring Cove Road. The driver was cited.
A caller said her niece had spit on her. Officers contacted both parties and found no evidence of a crime.
February 14
A caller complained the owner of a dog in the apartment below his leaves the dog alone at night and it’s been barking and howling all night for weeks.
Grand Jury
Jarred A. Davidson, 25, pleaded guilty to a Sept. 30, 2018, charge of assault in the third degree and was sentenced to 30 months with 24 suspended, and placed on probation for four years. A Sitka grand jury did not return a true bill on charges of misconduct involving a weapon in the second degree and robbery in the first degree. A charge of tampering with physical evidence was dismissed by the prosecution, and three charges of violating conditions of release were dismissed after a plea agreement.
