Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
August 19
A skipper asked for an ambulance for a crew member who fell and hit his head at Eliason Harbor.
The animal control officer was advised of a case of animal neglect on Price Street.
A landlord called an ambulance for a tenant.
At 11:36 a.m. a resident said someone was violating a stalking order by banging on his door and calling him names. He asked to speak to an officer.
At 1:37 p.m. a resident reported a fraudulent call from someone claiming to be from an insurance company. He didn’t give the caller any personal information.
At 2:37 p.m. police helped the Office of Children’s Services on a call.
A woman was taken into protective custody after complaints were received about her, and out of concern that she might harm herself and others.
At 4:26 p.m. a caller said a driver turned left off Marine Street onto HPR without looking, while talking on his cell phone. Officers advised him of the complaint, made by a person he nearly hit, and told him of the law against talking on a cell phone while driving.
At 8:34 p.m. a resident asked police to check on an intoxicated woman, who appeared to be climbing the side of Castle Hill, and may have a tent in the bushes. She was gone when police checked.
August 20
At 6:23 a.m. an ambulance was called for a man who fell several times and was unable to stand up without a lot of pain.
Sitka Police
Itzel Nunez, 21, was charged Monday with violating conditions of release by allegedly failing to report to her pre-trial enforcement division officer as ordered. She was also arrested on a warrant for failing to abide by PED directions, police said.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Hall received ambulance calls at 8:48, 9:47 and 11:03 a.m. Monday, and 6:21 a.m. today.
At 7:30 p.m. Monday a fire department truck was sent to 602 HPR on a reported fuel spill. No one was available to provide more information at the fire hall.
