The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Sept. 16
A black and white border collie was taken to the shelter on Sept. 7.
A resident who captured a feral cat was advised of his options.
A resident reported losing a set of two or three keys, last seen in a taxi.
At 12:06 p.m. a caller reported a man and woman were yelling on the Gavan trail, and the woman was crying. Police gave both disorderly conduct warnings.
A wallet with keys was turned in.
A man said his teal wallet was missing. He’d last seen it at Starrigavan.
A caller said his vehicle had been hit in the 800 block of HPR. The other driver also reported the incident.
Two women voluntarily checked into a hospital for mental health reasons.
At 9:35 p.m. three men were reported jumping on a car. They were inside the car when police arrived, and denied jumping on it.
Officers talked to a driver who reportedly failed to signal, then parked in a blue space in the 700 block of HPR.
Sept. 17
At 12:16 a.m. an intoxicated man in the skate park was taken into protective custody.
At 12:47 a.m. a couple was reported to be in a heated argument in their home. Police said they could hear the couple from the street, and gave both disorderly conduct warnings.
At 1:23 a.m. a caller asked for help getting her unstable boyfriend to leave. He left before officers responded.
At 1:44 a.m. a man sleeping under the bridge was advised to find another place to sleep.
At 2:16 a.m. a 911 caller reported an intoxicated man yelling in the 3200 block of HPR. No one was around when police arrived.
At 3:06 a.m. a resident said a bear had gotten into a bear-proof garbage can, and had strewn waste about the 4000 block of HPR. Fish and Game was advised.
At 3:35 a.m. a resident spotted a flare above Japonski Island. Police kept an eye out for a while, but didn’t see any other flares.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 10:10 a.m., 11:28 a.m., 1:04 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 9:06 p.m. Tuesday, and 2:59 a.m. today.
