The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Nov. 17
At 10:11 a.m. a 911 caller reported a woman lying on the ground on Katlian Street. She was taken to the hospital.
At 10:39 p.m. a caller on Oceanview said he had trapped a bunny that was loose in the area. He didn’t want to take it to the animal shelter, he said, and would release it.
At 1:59 p.m. Anchorage Police Department asked Sitka officers to deliver a death notice to next of kin.
At 3 p.m. a caller said two seal hides were stolen from property he rents in the 4600 block of HPR.
At 5:45 p.m. a caller said her vehicle had been gone through while parked in the 300 block of Lincoln Street, sometime between 1 and 5:45 p.m. Nothing was missing.
At 6:13 p.m. a 911 caller said her vehicle had been gone through while parked at Centennial Hall, between 2:30 and 6:15 p.m. Nothing was missing.
At 8:35 p.m. a detective requested a report form for a drug abuse case.
Nov. 18
At 6 a.m. TSA said loose ammunition rounds were found at the airport.
In Court
Denise Roberta Berkeley-Salter, 45, on a charge of driving under the influence pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 120 days with 100 days suspended; fined $4,000 with $1,000 suspended, and ordered to complete substance abuse treatment. Her license was revoked for one year and she will be on probation two years.
Tikhan Lestenkof, 55, on a charge of violating conditions of probation was ordered to obtain a mental health evaluation.
Artur Veshti, 40, pleaded guilty on a charge of driving under the influence was sentenced to 45 days with 42 suspended, fined $2,000 with $500 suspended, and ordered to complete substance abuse treatment. His license was revoked for 90 days, and after driving privileges are restored must have an ignition interlock device installed for six months. He will be on probation for one year.
Kale A.L. Pastel, 31, of Los Osos, Calif., on a charge of assault in the fourth degree, reckless injury, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 120 days with 115 days suspended and fined $1,000, suspended. He will be on probation for two years.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 9 a.m., 10:10 a.m.,10:14 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:10 a.m., 12:03 p.m., 4:28 p.m., 8:44 p.m. and 10:55 p.m. Monday, and 3:24 a.m. today.
Coast Guard
At 8:30 p.m. Monday, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Sitka launched a helicopter to medevac a pregnant 32-year-old woman from Skagway to Sitka. The helicopter landed back in Sitka at 11:30 p.m., and the woman was taken to SEARHC-Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital.

Michael Stringer, environmental specialist for Sitka Tribe of Alaska and a founder of the community garden, takes the concept of Earth Week literally. This weekend he hopes others will share his appreciation for “earth” and things growing in it by joining him in preparing the community garden just behind Blatchley Middle School for another growing season.
