The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
March 2
Two 70-pound lead balls, a shrimp pot and a fillet knife were reported stolen from the 2200 block of SMC.
A store manager reported a theft during the night, and asked police to look at the security camera footage.
A caller reported prescription medication stolen from Hemlock Street.
An ambulance was called for a man who cut his hand while at work, but he told the fire hall he didn’t need a ride.
At 1:38 p.m. a woman said her boyfriend was throwing items around the apartment. She told officers nothing had been broken. She and her boyfriend were given warnings.
Police issued warnings for littering and unsecured load to a driver after cardboard fell off the back of his truck on the way to the recycling center.
A caller said a man came to his door claiming to be a Kirby vacuum salesman. The caller said his neighbors didn’t have any similar visitors.
At 7:15 p.m. a man was reported playing loud music on Flume Circle. All was quiet when officers arrived.
An intoxicated man throwing up outside the library was picked up by a family member.
At 9:26 p.m. a woman reported a sulfur smell on Wolff Drive. She was advised to call the fire department, but nothing was found amiss.
At 11:58 p.m. a caller said someone was banging on an Indian River Road home. Officers found it was a woman trying to wake up her boyfriend to let her in to the apartment, after she locked herself out. Police called the building manager, who unlocked the door.
In Court
Charges of resisting or interfering with an arrest, disorderly conduct, persons under 21 on a licensed premises (two counts) and repeat minor consuming were dismissed against Franklin Hoogendorn, 19.
Kyle E. Kitka, 22, was sentenced to 10 days and fined $500 for driving with a revoked license, and 10 days for violating probation. A charge of driving without a license was dismissed.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 1:02 p.m. and 1:38 p.m. Monday.
At 1:08 p.m. Monday the search and rescue team was called in to help on an ambulance call on Harbor Mountain Road, but no help was needed.
At 9:31 p.m. a fire truck was sent to 114 Wolff Drive to check on a report of a sulfur smell, but no leaks were found, the fire hall said.
