LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. Police Blotter
The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
March 4
A caller said someone tried to break into his house while he was out of town. He said a window was damaged but nothing was missing.
A cell phone was turned in.
A woman received a warning about having her dog off-leash, and was cited for failing to have a dog license.
A caller said a white van failed to stop for a school bus.
At 4:57 p.m. a minor traffic accident was reported in the 200 block of Lake Street. There were no injuries and drivers were given self-report forms.
At 8:14 p.m. a caller said a pit bull running at large attacked a dog on a leash at Hirst and Monastery streets. The owner of the injured dog asked the animal control officer to talk to the pit bull owner since an attack has occurred before.
In Court
Bruce H. Chunak, 18, of Pilot Station was given a suspended imposition of sentence for minor consuming. He will be on probation for a year, and is to complete the Tribal Youth Diversion Effort program.
Kyle W. Fitsimmons, 17, was fined $200 and ordered to complete 20 hours’ community work service on a charge of minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol.
Kamryn M. Dodson, 14, was given a suspended imposition of sentence for driving in violation of an instruction permit. He will be on probation for a year and fined $150.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched an ambulance at 9:09 a.m. today.
