LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. Sitka Girls Advance To SE 3A Title Game
BULLETIN: The Sitka High boys basketball team downed Mt. Edgecumbe High 50-47 this afternoon to advance to a Saturday championship game against the Braves for the Region V title.

KETCHIKAN – The Sitka High girls downed Petersburg 51-43 today in the 3A division of the Southeast tournament.
The win advances the Sitka girls to the region championship game that will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday, with the winner going to the state 3A tournament March 19-21 in Anchorage.
Today’s win marks the first time the Sitka girls team has beaten Petersburg this season. The Wolves’ Sid Riggs led in scoring for the game with 25 points, the second straight game she has tallied that number of points. In Thursday’s game against Mt. Edgecumbe, she led the way to a 43-41 victory over the Braves.

A total of 24 of Petersburg’s points came from three-pointers.
The Region V basketball tournament is being played in Ketchikan’s Clarke Cochrane gymnasium, and the broadcast of the Sitka games is being carried locally on radio station KIFW.
