The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
March 20
An orange and blue keychain with a key and a boxcutter on it was found in the Baranof playground.
At 9:10 p.m. a gunshot sound was reported heard in the 1700 block of Edgecumbe Drive.
At 10 p.m. a caller said a woman who was not sure on her feet got into a car and drove away from a bar. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
At 10:23 p.m. loud music was reported heard on Monastery Street.
At 11:32 p.m. a caller reported a woman was yelling as if she were being assaulted in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. All was quiet when police arrived.
March 21
At 1:33 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported refusing to leave the hospital emergency room. He left before police arrived.
At 1:37 a.m. an Andrews Street resident complained about a man on her porch, ringing her doorbell. He was gone when police arrived.
At 2:31 a.m. a group home said a man had failed to return. Police found him intoxicated on a downtown wall. He was taken into protective custody.
At 4:39 a.m. a man asked for help removing two people from his residence. All were sleeping in a van when police arrived, and officers decided not to wake them up.
At 9:39 a.m. a caller complained about a marijuana smell in a hallway of a building in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. The smell was not present when officers arrived.
At 11:35 a.m. a caller said two men were shooting sea otters with high-powered rifles. Police spotted the men on an island, across from Shaffer’s Trailer Court, and advised them not to shoot toward town.
A red, white and silver bike was abandoned on Kaagwaantaan Street. Police determined the bike had not been reported as stolen.
At 7:54 p.m. a caller said a girl left home without permission. She was located and picked up by her supervisor.
At 8:10 p.m. police talked to a group of teens reported carrying a device to set off fireworks in the 600 block of Lake Street. They told the officers they were not setting off fireworks.
At 10:08 p.m. a resident reported someone had taken his tent and camping supplies and destroyed his campsite off Gavan Trail.
March 22
At 1:56 a.m. a resident reported a fight in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. The two men involved were advised to leave the area, and did so.
At 12:56 p.m. police gave a man in Eliason Harbor an open container warning.
At 3:48 p.m. a caller reported seeing a woman slap a man in the face at Sandy Beach. Police talked to all involved.
A man reported losing his cell phone in the Indian River area.
At 5:30 p.m. a woman asked police to ask her daughter’s boyfriend to leave the residence. He was given a disorderly conduct warning and left with his girlfriend and their kids.
At 6:37 p.m. a driver reportedly swerved on Metlakatla Street. He told officers his eyes may have left the road while he checked his cell phone “for a second.”
At 8:15 p.m. officers checked on a report a woman was going to harm herself. She said she had no intention of harming herself or her child. Her boyfriend said he would watch the child.
March 23
At 4:33 a.m. police checked on a report of a disturbance on Vitskari Street but all was quiet when they arrived.
At 5:36 a.m. a grocery store worker asked police to look at some video footage of a possible theft. A criminal trespass warning was signed against a suspect.
Sitka Police
Courtney MacArthur, 32, was arrested early Saturday for driving under the influence and refusal to take a breath test.
Denika M. Bragg, 25, was arrested Sunday for failing to have a valid license and violating conditions of release.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 5:21 and 6:25 p.m. Friday; and 11:58 p.m. Saturday.
At 2:08 a.m. Saturday a fire truck was sent to Mt. Edgecumbe High School after ballast from a broken light set off the detector.
At 2:07 p.m. Sunday a fire truck was sent to Mt. Edgeccumbe High School after cooking steak set off a detector. There was no fire.
