The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
June 23
At 8:05 a.m. a woman flagged down an officer to report a teen in a blue Camero was speeding toward town from the 2700 block of HPR. The officer found the car parked, but no one would admit to driving it. The officer told one of the males that if he were the driver to slow down.
At 2:28 p.m. a domestic violence order was readied to be served.
At 3:15 p.m. a caller asked for an officer to be present in court for a hearing on a stalking order.
At 8:40 p.m. a 911 caller reported hearing multiple large-caliber gunshots in the 4400, 4500 block of HPR. An officer spoke to a man by the side of the road, who said he had seen fireworks but wasn’t sure where they came from.
June 24
At 2:10 a.m. a caller on Metlakatla Street reported hearing a gunshot in Totem Park, and a caller in the 400 block of Marine Street reported hearing two gunshots that seemed to be coming from town.
At 3 a.m. a caller reported a bear was tipping over trash cans and munching on the trash in the 100 block of Harbor Mountain Road. Police found one can knocked over, but no sign of a bear or the caller.
At 4:20 a.m. a caller said a hole near a construction site on Baranof Street was filled with water, perhaps indicating a pipe might be broken. Public Works was notified.
At 5 a.m. three vehicles parked in the 300 block of Lincoln Street were cited for parking when prohibited.
In Court
Joshua D. Branham, 42, of Bemidji, Minn., on a September 2013 charge of theft in the second degree, a class C felony, was given suspended imposition of sentence. He was fined $5,000 and ordered to pay $16,788.76 in restitution and put in 40 hours of community work service.
Emelia Gregory, 53,on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident-unattended vehicle damage pleaded guilty and was fined $500 with $250 suspended, is to pay restitution, and will be on probation until June 23, 2016.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 8:36 p.m. and 10:26 p.m. Tuesday and 1:26 a.m. today. At 7:44 a.m. today a truck and ambulance were sent to Harbor Mountain Road where a car had gone off the road. No help was needed.
