The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Sept. 30
At 7:46 a.m. a bear was reported in the 1200 block of Georgeson Loop.
A woman who had reported some unusual things happening at her house agreed to go to a hospital for an evaluation.
Sitka police assisted Ketchikan police officers on a drug investigation.
At 4:45 p.m. a man said his black Helly Hanson rainjacket with his jacket in the pocket was stolen between noon and 1 p.m. at a downtown hotel. His wallet held credit cards and ID.
At 5:33 p.m. a caller said her son and his friend had seen two men walking around her home on Thomas Young Street. One of the men had spiky hair and wore a raincoat, the kids said.
A caller complained about buckets of rotting fish at a neighbor’s home on Brady Street. Police found the fish was being used appropriately for composting. The neighbor told the officers she was having problems with the caller’s dog running at large and getting onto her property.
A hit and run was reported between 2 and 6 p.m. on Monastery Street.
A resident said a bear had gotten into garbage the last couple of days on Kimsham Street.
Residents who were leaving their garbage out too early on Cascade Creek Road agreed to put it out the morning of pickup. Bears had been reported getting into the garbage.
At 10:48 p.m. a woman said she and her mother saw a bear in their driveway in the 2000 block of HPR, and asked for police help getting home from Pioneer Park. The two women said they saw the bear cross the street and go into the woods. It was gone when officers arrived.
At 11:37 p.m. a bear was seen getting into trash next to the utility house at Sandy Beach. It had dragged a bag of trash across the street and was eating it. Police and a Fish and Game biologist followed the bear to the 2500 block of HPR, where it was shot by a Taser and knocked down. It got up soon after and ran off, and police and the biologist lost track of it.

Jhonny C. Corrales, 38, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of driving under the influence.
In Court
Two counts of disorderly conduct and being a drunk person on an unlicensed premises were dismissed against Donald R. Hathaway, 65.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 4:30 p.m., 7:39 p.m. and 11:10 p.m. Wednesday and 12:46 a.m. and 1:03 a.m. today.
