The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Oct. 2
At 8:09 a.m. a rear-end collision was reported. Damage but no injuries were reported.
A resident reported a feral kitten trapped under her dashboard. The animal control officer and auto repair shop employees were unable to get it out, and the officer left a cat trap and food to “tempt it out from its hiding spot,” he said. The ACO also provided advice on taming the feral kitten.
A wallet turned in to police was claimed by the owner.
Police took possession of a magazine of ammunition seized at the airport. The owner said he would ask troopers to mail the magazine to him.
A resident asked police to check on his girlfriend whom he hadn’t heard from in 24 hours. Officers found her phone was dead, but she was fine.
At 7:33 p.m. an intoxicated man was reported to have tried to get into a car at the grocery store, then decided against it and walked through the ballfields. The man was not in the area when officers arrived.
At 8:16 p.m. kids were reported playing “ding-dong ditch” on Dodge Circle. They were not in the area when officers arrived.
Oct. 3
At 12:56 a.m. a caller reported a loud bonfire on the beach in the 1700 block of HPR. Officers cited five kids under 18 for minor consuming and curfew violation.
At 3:02 a.m. a caller reported a loud group of intoxicated people on Andrews Street. Officers told them to disperse, which they did.
At 3:44 a.m. a resident said her son left home and stayed at another home without parents’ permission. She said she would have her son call officers when he returned.
At 6:19 a.m. a bear was reported in the 3200 block of HPR.
Officers are investigating a report of damage to a fence on Brady Street. A witness gave police the name of a juvenile suspect.
A resident reported being scammed out of $500. She was given the ic3.gov website to report the crime.
A business owner reported graffiti on the outside of the building on Katlian Street.
At 4:32 p.m. an erratic driver was reported in the 1800 block of HPR. When officers stopped him, he told them he was sightseeing while driving.
At 7:18 p.m. police gave a disorderly conduct warning to a man creating a disturbance in Eliason Harbor. An affidavit was filed by an officer for a probation violation for consuming alcohol.
A wallet was found at Sandy Beach. Police called the owner.
A man who was highly intoxicated and walking into traffic at 6:35 p.m. was given a ride to the hospital.
Police tried to contact a woman who had left her cane in a store in the 200 block of Lincoln Street.
At 7:55 p.m. an Indian River resident reported loud explosions and something hitting her house twice. Others in the neighborhood reported fireworks. Police found no damage to the house.
Police checked a house on Erler Street where a door had been found left open. There was nothing amiss.
Oct. 4
At 1:27 a.m. a woman said someone was trying to get into her daughter’s home through the window, but nothing was amiss when police arrived.
At 6:08 a.m. police were called to a store in the 2000 block of HPR where a man was reported breaking in. Police arrested one person.
An ambulance was dispatched for a woman who said she was hypothermic. She was given a ride to the hospital. Her belongings were left at the police station for her to pick up later.
At 7:41 a.m. a driver reportedly ran into a utility pole. She called police from the hospital to report the accident.
An ambulance was called for a man who fell on Lake Street at 12:25 p.m.
A wallet found in roadway was picked up by the owner later.
At 4:40 p.m. a resident reported hearing a man yelling a racial slur and threats at a vehicle, and pulling something out of one of two briefcases. Police caught up with him in the 700 block of HPR. He told police he was only rapping while walking down the street. He was given a disorderly conduct warning, and was picked up by a female friend.
At 11:18 p.m. police performed a welfare check on a man with disabilities, who turned out to be fine.
Sitka Police
James Lysons, 28, was arrested Friday on a charge of driving with a suspended license and violating conditions of release (two counts).
Gabriel Aciek, 36, was arrested Sunday morning on a charge of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, and criminal trespass in the second degree.
Wesley S. Revelle, 25, was arrested early Sunday on a charge of theft in the fourth degree, burglary in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree (two counts).
In Court
A charge of driving in violation of a permit was dismissed against Deanne L. Kubik, 50.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 6:44 p.m. Saturday; and 7:23 a.m., 9:35 a.m., 12:27 p.m. and 4:59 p.m. Sunday.
