LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Nov. 19
A pair of black and blue Skull Candy headphones were left at the police station.
At 7:18 a.m. a driver was reported to have blown through the checkpoint at the Coast Guard. Police found he was authorized to be on the base, but hadn’t seen that the guard shack was manned.
A police officer helped a driver get into his car after he had locked himself out, on Cascade Creek Road.
At 11:23 a.m. the Transportation Security Administration reported it had seized a magazine with 13 rounds from a passenger’s carry-on bag. The passenger’s friends agreed to pick up the ammo.
An 18-wheeler was seen accidentally dropping garbage on the road at 11:31 a.m. The driver was called.
A resident said someone called her at 5:51 a.m. claiming to be from the IRS and asking for money. She said she also received a call last week from someone claiming to be collecting donations for the Sitka Fire Department.
At 2:13 p.m. an intoxicated pedestrian was reported in the 2800 block of SMC. The pedestrian was gone when police arrived.
Police were unable to locate a man who was reported jumping into traffic in the 900 block of HPR at 3:37 p.m.
A pellet gun was allowed to be taken onto a plane, after it was first deemed to be improperly packaged.
Police are investigating a report of drug abuse.
At 7:54 p.m. a man said his older brother was causing problems at home. Both were both given disorderly conduct warnings.
A resident reported losing a single silver or orange Subaru key in the downtown area.
At 10:14 p.m. a few residents complained about a loud booming noise near the skeet range. Police found a package that may have been filled with fireworks.
Nov. 20
At 12:57 a.m. a man was reported refusing to leave a bar at the bartender’s request. He told police he had been in an altercation with another patron. Both were intoxicated, and the bartender signed a criminal trespass warning against one of them.
At 2:19 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported falling down in the 600 block of Katlian Street. He was gone when officers arrived.
A cell phone was turned in and picked up by the owner.
At 6:20 a.m. a woman reported she had been getting harassing calls from Illinois and Florida from someone claiming she needed to pay on her student loans. She said she had no student loans. She was advised to report the scam to ic3.gov.

Itzel G. Nunez Mora, 17, was cited for failing to have a valid license, on Thursday.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched an ambulance at 7:10 p.m. Thursday.
