The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Nov. 25
Police were asked to help a woman with her teenage daughter who refuses to go to school. The girl was already getting ready for school before police arrived. Officers told her they would be following up with school staff to make sure she’s going to class.
An Edgecumbe Drive resident said someone has been knocking on her door every morning between 2 and 3 a.m. One night the person knocked on the back door as well. She was advised to call police when this occurs.
At 4:41 p.m. a caller said someone struck his vehicle in the 4800 block of HPR, and left without reporting the accident. Police documented the incident.
At 5:13 p.m. a resident reported a group of people were going through an area near Eliason Harbor, taking wood pallets and other items. No one was around when police arrived.
At 5:47 p.m. police received a 911 call reporting a three-car accident in the 1300 block of SMC. Officers found only two vehicles were involved, and one patient was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
At 6:06 p.m. a resident reported icy road conditions at Indian River Road and SMC. Police observed the roadway was not overly hazardous, if drivers were going appropriately for the road conditions.
At 6:23 p.m. a resident said she received a scam call from someone saying she’d won a sweepstakes.
At 7:12 p.m. a resident reported receiving a harassing call from someone she didn’t know. She was advised of procedures for documenting such calls.
A woman said her vehicle had been struck in a parking lot on the SJ campus, and she just saw a note from the other driver when she got home.
At 10:28 p.m. a caller reported hearing a woman yelling “help me, help me” on Etolin Street, but no one needed assistance and no one appeared to be in distress when police arrived.
A resident asked for a welfare check on a woman whose parents were out of the country and couldn’t reach their daughter. Police talked to the daughter, and found all was OK.
Nov. 26
At 12:28 a.m. a 911 asked for an ambulance for a woman who fell and broke her arm on the UAS campus.
Police helped a woman get into her car after she locked herself out in the ANB Harbor parking lot.
At 8:31 p.m. a resident reported her border collie was missing from her Wachusetts Street home. The dog returned within 5 minutes.
At 9:35 p.m. a woman asked whether officers had picked up a cockapoo earlier in the evening. She was advised no one had called about the dog, and they hadn’t seen one running at large. She was told she would be advised if her dog was seen.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 12:17 p.m. and 8:34 p.m. Wednesday; and 12:29 p.m., 3:38 p.m. and 8:01 p.m. Thursday.
At 5:49 p.m. Wednesday a fire truck and ambulance were sent to 1211 SMC on a report of a two-vehicle accident.
At 6:37 a.m. Thursday a fire truck was sent to 408 Lake St. on a report of a gas smell. Fire officials found nothing amiss, and no gas leaks.
