Services to be Monday For Carlos A. Agne, 81

Carlos Alagano Agne

Services have been scheduled for Carlos Alagano Agne, a longtime Sitka resident who died Oct. 16 at the age of 81.
A viewing will be 11 a.m. to noon Monday, October 28, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, with the memorial service to follow, from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Sitka Memorial Park, with a potluck reception following (around 2 p.m.) back at the church.
Carlos passed away peacefully in his sleep at SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital on October 16.
He was born March 30, 1943, in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines, one of 12 children – six boys and six girls – of Basilia Duley Alagano and Prudencio Agasar Agne.
He studied vocational mechanics at Zaragoza College, University of Tayug in Pangasinan.
After coming to Sitka in 1977, he worked as a janitor at the Sitka Pioneers Home; a digester operator at Alaska Pulp Corp. mill; and was a contractual janitor for Sheldon Jackson College.
Among his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and boating, and he enjoyed farming.
He and Cecilia Martinez Gulla married January 10, 1981, in Quezon City, Philippines.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Basilia Duley Alagano and Prudencio Agasar Agne; sisters Patrocenio Estepa, Ambrosia Smickle, Julianna Barroga and Crescencia Manaog; and brothers Emeterio Agne, Luis Agne, Donato Agne, and Teofilo Agne Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Agne; two sisters, Irene Jubane and her husband, Vicentito Jubane of Lynnwood, Washington, and Juliet Knavel of Shoreline, Washington; one brother, Salvador Agne and his wife, Adelia Agne, of Sitka; one sister-in-law Nora Agne of Sitka; nieces Maricres Talley of Washington, Maryanne Deck of Florida, Juliet Agne, Sheila Agne, and Shannon Peterson, of Sitka; and nephews Richard Barroga of Hawaii, Vincent Agne of Washington and Teofilo “T.J.” Agne Jr. of Sitka.
Also surviving are cousins in Hawaii, Washington, Virginia, California, Florida and the Philippines.
Pallbearers will be Richard Holden, Dan Nicholas, Joe Partido, Will Peterson, Zaldy Rodrigo, Mel Villanueva, Pete Villanueva and Victor Villanueva.
