The state Department of Health and Social Services has posted the following update on the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Alaska as of 12:15 pm Tuesday, March 28.

New cases as of Tuesday: 512

Total cases (cumulative) statewide – 295,801

Total (cumulative) deaths – 1,468

Case Rate per 100,000 – 70.24

Woody C.J. Litman, a Sitka High senior, has advanced to finalist standing in the 2003 National Merit Scholarship Program. Litman, 18, is the son of Mike and Sue Litman.

David Knapp is director.  Material on the college will be exhibited at the Chamber Trade Fair.

Winners in school swimming contests for ages 7-14 has been announced. In the ages 7-8 events winners were Tim Grussendorf, Maria Seesz, Mike Bateman, Drew Wilson and Adam Kuehn. In the age 9-10 events winners were Bill Konoski, Chris Bacon, John Gardner, Gillian Bacon, Spence Bovee, Glen Owen.... In diving ages 15-17, Fronty Parker, Bert Stedman, David Coulter and Mike Bovee were winners.
