Roberta (Bobby) Jean Alexander

Roberta (Bobby) Jean Alexander passed on September 9, 2021, in Raymond, Washington, at the age of 89.

She was born on April 14, 1932, in Spokane, Washington, to Wallace and Jo Volz.

The family moved to Sitka, where Bobby attended school for several years, graduating from Sitka High in 1951. She married Raymond Keith Thurman in 1951 and they had two children, Michael and Melodie. They lived in Fairbanks a short time then returned to Sitka until 1960, when they moved to Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

On October 31, 1964, she married Vernon Alexander in Stilwell, Oklahoma. They moved to Raymond, Washington, in 1993. Vernon preceded her in death on April 25, 2006.

Bobby enjoyed quilting and embroidering and other crafts, and had booths at farmers’ markets. She enjoyed life and had fun, a family member said.

Bobby is survived by two brothers and one sister, Dr. Wallace Volz of Anacortes, Washington, and Frank Volz and Sandra Watson, both of Grayland, Washington; children Melodie Thurman of Raymond, Washington, and Michael Thurman of Aberdeen, Washington; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
