Speech therapist Liz Cooley, who helps facilitate the meetings, said that Parkinson’s medications treat only the symptoms, while physical therapy, including big exercises and being loud, has been effective in slowing the progression of the disease. The group formed in June and meets on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. Cooley says anyone suffering from Parkinson’s is invited to the free gatherings and is encouraged to bring friends, family and caregivers. Winners in school swimming contests for ages 7-14 has been announced. In the ages 7-8 events winners were Tim Grussendorf, Maria Seesz, Mike Bateman, Drew Wilson and Adam Kuehn. In the age 9-10 events winners were Bill Konoski, Chris Bacon, John Gardner, Gillian Bacon, Spence Bovee, Glen Owen.... In diving ages 15-17, Fronty Parker, Bert Stedman, David Coulter and Mike Bovee were winners.
