The 2003 Sitka Sound sac roe herring fishery wrapped up with a catch of 2,208 tons in 10 minutes of fishing between Halibut Point and MIddle Island. ... The total catch came to 7,304 tons, about 335 tones over the 6,969-ton target quota.

Eighth-grade students visited the Capitol City this week as part of an enrichment project of the social studies program under Harvey Brandt, Blatchley teacher. The students included Lance Mearig, Brent Stratton, Jason Kuehn, Tammy Nelson, Carl Peterson, Mike Welch, Cheri Wilson, Yvonne Frank, Dorcas Spencer, David Cadman, Vicki Schmidt and Lyle Pritchett.
