The state Department of Health and Social Services has posted the following update on the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Alaska as of 12:15 pm Tuesday, March 28.
New cases as of Tuesday: 512
Total cases (cumulative) statewide – 295,801
Total (cumulative) deaths – 1,468
Case Rate per 100,000 – 70.24

The 2003 Sitka Sound sac roe herring fishery wrapped up with a catch of 2,208 tons in 10 minutes of fishing between Halibut Point and MIddle Island. ... The total catch came to 7,304 tons, about 335 tones over the 6,969-ton target quota.
