LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
March 24
At 2:26 a.m. the door on a storage unit on Jarvis Street was reported open. Police were to contact the property manager.
A man was reported to have taken a barking dog that was keeping him awake from the apartment of a neighbor who was out of town, and letting the dog out to relieve itself. Officers spoke with him.
At 12:10 p.m. a girl was reported stuck in a tree, about 15 feet up, at totem park visitor center. The Fire Department was called and rescued the girl using a ladder extension. The girl’s age was not listed.
At 8:56 p.m. a man was reported sleeping in the lobby of a building in the 400 block of Lake Street. He was awakened and told to leave.
At 9:44 p.m. a caller said underage kids were having a party in the 6000 block of HPR. Police found all of them were over age 18 and were not planning to drive.
March 25
At 12:12 a.m. a man was reported on the ground near the recycle center. The man told police he’d had a minor bike crash and was fine.
At 9:36 p.m. a traffic complaint came in from Seward Avenue.
March 26
At 10:58 p.m. a possible drunk driver was reported at American and Lincoln streets. Police determined he was not intoxicated.
At 11:54 p.m. disorderly conduct was reported in the 2600 block of HPR. The two involved agreed to separate for the night.
March 27
At 12:20 a.m. a person was accused of selling marijuana out of a car. Police are investigating.
At 2 a.m. a customer at a bar got upset because he wasn’t allowed to buy more alcohol, and hit a window and a jukebox. The bar declined to press charges.
Sitka Police
Jordan Meader, 36, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, and operating a motor vehicle while his license was controlled, suspended or revoked.
Amanda Rose Skultka, 36, was arrested Friday on a charge of violating conditions of release.
Christian Moe, 45, was arrested Friday on a warrant for failure to appear at a calendar call.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Friday, none on Saturday, and three on Sunday.
