Power Outage Tonight

The city electric department has planned a power outage for some areas from midnight tonight to 6 a.m. Friday to install a new 75-foot transmission pole, switches and hardware to connect a new Solar Titan 130 turbine generator to the 69kV transmission line at the Jarvis Street substation.

All customers past 3600 Halibut Point Road and 1500 Sawmill Creek Road will be out of power.
Remaining customers may have their power turned off, depending on the overall system load prior to the outage, the city said.
Work must be completed with the 69kV transmission line de-energized to ensure crew safety and to finish the work in the shortest time possible, the city said. It will also limit the amount of power available on the system.
The Marine Street Distribution Substation will be de-energized during the outage.
‘‘We urgently request all customers to take maximum conservation measures to allow the greatest number of customers to receive limited power from the Jarvis Street distribution substation during the outage,’’ the city said. ‘‘The more each of us conserve, the more customers we can keep in service. We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may incur and will restore service as quickly as possible.’’
Call the electric department at 747-4000 for further information.
